Psychology Article / Random Thoughts
Mar. 2nd, 2009 10:22 pmWhew... I'm taking a break from reading scientific psychology papers right now.
It's definitely interesting stuff. The one I'm reading about is how social stereotypes have a great impact on a person's performance in society. For example, there's a social stereotype that women do poorly in math. Once they're introduced to this stereotype, they become affected by it. It's interesting to see the scientific experiments that back this up. It seems a bit like common sense when you think about it, but psychology has that danger about it. A lot of things in psychology seem VERY intuitive... (like duh!), so you fall into the danger of thinking you know everything. I guess that's why modern psychology is so heavily based off of statistical data. It's proof that these certain "intuitive" things are actual real and true in our real lives. We need to watch ourselves so we don't jump to conclusions.
I'm impressed by the seniors in the psychology department. They can look at certain issues and be critical and open-minded about it at the same time! I guess my school does a fairly good job at creating those types of psychology students.

My thoughts seem as wide as the gaping night sky tonight.... full of potential and possibilities...
Yet I can't seem to work on my paper at all.. >_>
What will life be like once I finish college? No more late night papers to work on... or homework to complete. I'll most likely move back home. After that... what next? It's scary planning all that alone. It's a question best reserved for a better time.... a time when I'm ready to deal with the future.
I'm -really- tempted to ditch class tomorrow. I need a break... but I guess I just need to push myself a bit more.
Thoughts of my grandfather still linger in my mind...
The "meaning of life" still haunts me in my dreams..
I wish I didn't feel so alone sometimes.

Whoa.. I just finished writing 2 pages for my paper. ^^ Cool.
Now to work on my other homework...
