I always see those articles on yahoo that say that "men and women communicate differently."  I guess I grew up in a world where I was taught that men and women were different. Articles like these on yahoo continue to reinforce that belief.

I'm in the process of rethinking these different ideas about men and women in general. Personally, I think men and women have a lot more in common than we think we do. It goes back to the nurture vs. nature debate. I'm beginning to see how the environment we live in plays a big role in who we are, or the ideas that we have...  It depends a lot on the environment on how we grow..

To change topics... I think this is why I feel so trapped living in society today. To me, it's a "prison" of ideas. Society is so "stuck" in its own way of life that it doesn't go beyond that. It's like trying to function while you're depressed... you have all these negative ideas and thoughts that it becomes very hard to think of anything else.  The American lifestyle is somewhat like that... we become so focused on certain things that everything else becomes non-existent. I've been using yahoo as my email for awhile now, and just by checking my email... I end up reading all the things on its front page. I've come to know so much more about celebrity gossip, television, and fashion than anything else... just by checking my email!  That in itself isn't negative... but there's so much out there I think that's more important than those things.

American people aren't ignorant. We're just not looking in the direction the rest of the world is looking. We're so focused on materialistic gains and pleasures... That's why I feel so trapped. Than again, is the rest of the world any different than us? I know there's so much more than this... but I don't live in an environment that fosters any other type of growth besides materialistic ones. The alternative would be a bohemian lifestyle, living for ideas and culture, but also being impoverished and poor.

Maybe I'm just being idealistic. I have to make my peace with this current lifestyle in America. I have to realize that I need to do things I don't agree with... because this is where I live.
