It's strange how linguistics work in my head. I think it's easier for me when I don't think about language directly.. For example, if you asked me to conjugate a verb in Spanish, I wouldn't be able to do it quickly off the top of my head. It's easier for me not to think about it. I can easily form sentences in Spanish using the correct verb tense without even thinking twice. I guess this comes more from intuition and experience rather than classroom study. When listening to someone speak, it's natural for me to pick up who the subject is, or what's going on. If I had to think about it and break it down, it would be much harder for me to figure out which is the subject, verb, etc...

I guess this is the mark of intuition. With intuition, you can understand something without thinking about the details. "Ah, it's going to rain. How do I know that? Well, I just do." This makes me wonder if intuition actually comes from experience. From there, I think experience is broken down into two areas.. "Theoretical" experience, such as reading 100 books and learning all the facts.. and "practical" experience, which is more of a hands-on approach to things.

This said, I think intuition can be both theoretical and/or practical.

The ability to generalize experiences to a broader sense...
Is that what intuition is?

Watched "Death Sentence" with a friend tonight. It's a bit of a sad movie. Kevin Bacom seeks revenge for his son after a random gang killing. It seems like the law is not enough to bring in true justice, so he takes it into his own hands. One thing leads to another, and soon he's knee-deep in trouble. The movie never really preaches whether he was right or wrong in what he did... but that leaves it all up to the viewer for interpretation.

Well, maybe in the end in their final dialogue...
"Look at you, you look just like us.."
