Tomorrow is the day I go back to the Philippines. It still doesn't seem real to me. My mom, my grandmother, and my aunt have been planning this trip for months now. Me however... I'm just getting started on packing up my bags, lol. I heard my best friends I met there are now married. It's strange to think that we were just kids back then. In many ways, I still feel like I am one. 10 years is a long time.
Last weekend was a grueling, tiring romp in AX 2007. My legs were sore from walking everywhere. When my friends and I weren't wandering around the Exhibit Hall or watching concerts, we were walking around the harbor. It was my first time in Long Beach, and it was a pleasant surprise. The coastal atmosphere and the blue skies were a cool change from the heat of LA. The expo itself was fun, but didn't really live up to my expectations. The Long Beach convention center is a lot smaller than the one in Anaheim. To top that off, some of the events for the first two days were completely disorganized. Apparently the main event every fanboy wanted to see was the one with Aya Hirano. During her Q&A panel, some guys were shouting at her to marry them. It was a little creepy. Oh, my friend and I participated in a voice acting workshop during the convention too. That was prettty fun. They gave us tips on how to get into a certain character by changing our voices. Then we would act it out as a group. Perhaps the best part of the expo is to see all the people. It's the particular energy you can only get from a convention like this.
AX 2007 and my trip to the Philippines are the two highlights for this summer of mine. AX came and went like a blur. A few short days in the midst of summer that went by too fast.. but totally worth every second. I have a feeling my trip the Philippines will feel the same way. I'll be gone for nearly two weeks, without internet or a cell phone. Hmm..
